What is sea moss?
Sea moss is a common name used for edible seaweeds. Products vary in species, preparation and ingredients. Millie’s Moss offers ready-to-use gels, dried moss, powder and other formats. Check the label for the specific product you choose.
A long history as a food
Sea moss has been part of everyday cooking for generations. Along the Irish coast, Chondrus crispus, known as Irish moss, was gathered from the shoreline and used to set milk puddings and thicken drinks. In the Caribbean, sea moss is soaked, blended and set into a gel at home, and it is the base of a much-loved drink made with milk, spices and sweetener. Today people use it to thicken smoothies, soups, sauces and desserts.
A format for your kitchen
A gel is ready to spoon into food or drinks and needs refrigeration. Dried moss takes preparation. Powder is finely ground. Gummies are chewable. Their ingredient lists and serving instructions differ; they are not direct nutritional substitutes.
Food, clearly explained
A customer’s experience is personal. It does not establish a health benefit. We focus on practical information: what a product contains, how to use it and how to store it.
