Our cerasee originates from the beautiful island of Jamaica. It is ethically sourced and handpicked by our associated supplier, naturally grown and sundried with no additives, synthetic pesticides, fertilizers or GMO's.

Cerasee is a popular vining plant scientifically known as Momordica charantia (Bitter Melon/Gourd), which can be found in the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. It is renown for its extremely bitter fruit and leaves.

Uses

  • Tea. Typically made by boiling the leaves and stems which is known as cerasee in Jamaica.  To be consumed in moderation, with recommendations suggesting 1-2 cups daily for short periods or limiting consumption to a few times a month, taking breaks in between, as excessive use can cause side effects like low blood sugar, diarrhea, or liver issues; always consult a doctor first, especially if pregnant, diabetic, or on medication.

  • Cooking. Besides the stem and leaves, the bitter melon plant bears wart-covered, bitter-tasting fruits that can be enjoyed cooked or raw. They’re a popular ingredient in Asian dishes.

While studies have found that supplementing with parts of the M. charantia plant, including fruit extracts, may benefit certain populations, no studies have specifically investigated the effects of cerasee tea.
