At a glance
Refrigerate your Millie’s Moss sea moss gel as soon as it arrives and keep it refrigerated between uses. Follow the date and storage instructions on your own jar: different blends may have different guidance.
Put your gel straight into the fridge
Our gels are packed with frozen ice packs for dispatch. When your order arrives, refrigerate the gel immediately.
If a jar arrives damaged, leaking, unusually warm or otherwise suspect, do not consume it. Contact our team about the affected item promptly.
Read the date from production
Our sea moss gels are produced on the day they are dispatched. Their shelf life is measured from production, not from when the parcel arrives or the jar is opened.
Opening a jar does not start a new shelf-life period. Use the date on that jar rather than counting a fresh number of days from opening.
Follow the guidance for your blend
Golden, Sorrel and other blends may have different instructions. Use the guidance for the jar you have, rather than a storage period mentioned for another flavour or in a general recipe.
If a date or instruction is unclear, ask our team with the product name and label details.
Can you freeze sea moss gel?
Yes. Transfer the gel into a food-safe, freezer-safe container or portion tray first.
Do not freeze it in the supplied glass jar. The glass may crack or break.
For freezing duration, thawing and use afterwards, ask our team about your specific gel. Keep the product name and label details handy so they can check the right guidance.
Does this apply to homemade gel or other formats?
This page explains the care of ready-made Millie’s Moss gels. Do not use a ready-made jar’s date as the shelf life for gel you prepare at home.
Dried moss, powder, gummies, capsules, oils and teas have their own storage directions. Compare the formats and follow the instructions on the product you choose.
